Ajest

A Time Travel Erotic Romance

When a socially-awkward history geek attempts to escape his present-day insecurities with the ladies...and just about everything else...through a role-playing game, he lands his sorry-ass in a pseudo-medieval world, where he can either assume the persona of the brutal warrior called Ajest or risk life and limb in mortal combat as his conflicted self.

Well...the choice is obvious. What's not so obvious to Ajest is the lovely damsel in distress he meets in this parallel universe.

Weird, how she keeps throwing herself at him. Weirder still is how strongly she reminds him of Ria, the girl who wouldn't give him the time of day back home...

Poor, confused Ajest! The joke is on him in more ways than one in this goof on time travel and role-playing games and history geeks...and just everything else, including techno phobes and craft beer brewing and Boston speak.

In other words, it's a typical Louisa Trent erotic romance, with a dominant warrior who really isn't, a submissive fem who really isn't, and a happily-ever-after that really is well-earned.

This is a lot more than a - people are not what they appear to be.. story. I tried to pull from lots of sources to flush out the characters and the story arc. The craft brewing line is borrowed from my own kitchen, where every couple of months there is another five gallon batch of ale, IPA, larger or maybe my favorite - pastry stout - is brewing thanks to husband "T". Craft beweries are also always stops on the vacation itineraries.

I'm not suggesting that like Ria I am interested in starting my own brewery, it's just part of another of my mashup story lines that includes craft brewing, role play gaming, the college years and my love of the medieval period with the help of time travel. I find it difficult not to use this foil to lighten the story and add some humor among the serious sex. There are several other novels that use the juxtaposition of current and historical periods in this way. You will find similar play in another time travel novel - THYME, and the sci-fi based story in TEMPEST.

Ajest is meant to be a light hearted, humorous look at medieval times through the eyes of a 21st century gamer with some serious sex tossed into the mix of time travel, magicians and, of course, romance.
